South Coast, Kenya

After a week of pestering Suraj, I managed to get half a day off Suraj to take me to Diani. We were fortunate enough to have a driver with us, Mr Kalim. The last time he drove me around the poor man did not any sleep and sorry to say it was the same again.
We made our way at around 2pm, Suraj, Anmol(Mr Sales) and myself. I jumped in the drivers seat as I was sober. The driving experience in Africa is some what exciting, the single lane highway overtaking the toktok's and matatu's which pull in and out without signing and sharing it with man and machine, not forgetting the hidden speed bumps and potholes. The warm air rushing as your speeding in the distance.
We crossed the bridge by boat to get to the south coast and then had another hours drive to get to Diani. We started by going to a lovely resort and trying to book a villa, walking onto the beach by sound of live music was  surreal. the beach was amazing, lovely crystal white sand and clear water. The sand texture is nothing I have felt before it was so soft and felt like your walking on air.
Once we realised that there is not much time for relaxing and that we could spend that cash on booze we departed and went to the famous .......... bar which had tables on the beach and that was the beginning the drunken night.
We relaxed and absorbed the heat while drinking and eating abd evening the beach views, unfortunately the sunset was on the other side as the beaches are facing the east that was the only down side.
We them drove to forty thieves and played some pool scoping whether if this place was worth coming to in the later evening.
Dinner was at leanado's due it being famous for it's vodka ice scream. It seems to me every restaurant I've been to has been Italian- these guys are taking over and I was getting tired of crisp baked pizza's.
After finishing on a high, drinking/eating the vodka ice cream we strolled into forty thieves. Drink after drink we watched the dancefloor get packed by the america navy and a group of dutch ladies and the usual corner full of the proz.
We drank the bar dry and then decided to head back to mombasa and party closer to home as the ferry became unreliable after 2am. When we arrived at il covo yet another italian joint we were greeted by 3 air hostess, which lightened the evening and the rest I do not remember..............
